A leading oil and gas company required a .6 mile long pre-coated pipeline to be dragged under a highway and a canal. The first attempt was made with a standard painted-on coating and resulted in substantial damage to the coating. SolarShell was then applied, and the pipe was dragged under highway and canal with no damage.
SolarShell laminate with no primer was used in this application. SolarShell was applied in the factory and the pipe welded together in the field. Weld joints were then protected with SolarShell in the field.
The customer enjoyed the benefits of an easy application that required no mixing, heating or special equipment to apply. The rapid curing and hand application created quick turnaround on this project. Reinforced seams and seamless overlaps provide full mechanical protection to the pipeline.
